I have another CAS card to share with you today!

I tend to keep some of my birthday cards very simple, especially ones that I am sending to those who are int he hospital or are elderly, or overseas.

I do it for postage reasons and for the fun of simplicity.

I always make sure to use a really thick card stock when I make my cards this simple.

The title of this stamp is fittingly Birthday Girl

and on the inside I used the sentiment titled I Wish You Love which you can get in rubber or digital!

Well, that would be me - but only since we moved here to Alaska in the last month.

I cam from North Carolina where it is still very much warm.

I couldn't be happier to announce that I am a part of the Biblical Impressions Design Team!

I was honored and excited as I love to use scripture on my cards and to send to people I have been praying for. I may not always come across as the typical Christian - but I do have a growing faith and love of prayer - as I know first handed it works.

Here is another one of my smaller cards that I can slip into someone's book, or their pocket, or something. I like to leave them so people know I have been praying for them without trying to be thanked for it. It isn't something we should need recognition for, we should just be doing it.

I used the Medium Sunflower Image - which can also be ordered in large. I also used the verse

I am showcasing my most favorite of them all and he is also going to be placed in the lunch box of my husband to let him know he is my favorite :)

And how could you not smile when you see him with open arms?

I keep these types of notes small just because I know Nick doesn't want anything he can't put in a pocket. I also know that he is not the type to appreciate the ribbon, brads, and fancy things that can be used.

I just let him know I love him and keep it simple.

Hello Everyone!

Sorry to be gone for sooo long - but I am back with a great Blog Hop with Eureka Stamps!

This is the first blog hop of the year so we are so excited to showcase stamps in the theme of Love and/or Valentine's Day since it is coming faster than any of us want to talk about!

Eureka Stamps has some great images - rubber and digital that you can choose from!

Today I am showcasing a project that I am working on for my nephew and niece for their Valentine's care package. See we recently moved to Alaska so we have to think of things in advance to make sure they arrive on time! We packed up white paper bags (from Wal-Mart on clearance!) with goodies of all sorts and decided the theme would be "Showering Them With Love"

I opted for the large rubber version to make sure I could color it vibrantly with some Crayola markers. I know the kids would squeal at the bright colors!

So sorry it has been so long!

Big news! Our family is being moved to Alaska and we only know it will be for Nick to start work in either December or February - big change with either little or no time to get there.

Gotta love the Army!

I have been busy sorting through things we need and don't need or want so we can garage sale our hearts away.

I have gotten rid of quite a bunch, and still more to come - since I don't sell my stuff for much more than $0.25 or $0.50 I don't make much, but it moves it.

I have done okay on the no soda, crappy on not biting my nails, and I have not run near the 100 miles I wanted to. I actually even hurt my knee!

I plan on making that a goal for October to get in my last training for maybe a half marathon on November. Sheesh.

I have not crafted in a really long time, but have working on some little things here and there. Once I find where my batteries for camera are I will take pictures and post! I have also made some altered items for a swap I am in that are sure to be loved (at least I love them!).

Sorry to be so slack this last month - I might go visit a few websites to get a challenge in here or there to get my mojo going...

I feel like I am in a no motivation funk because I have so much to do...I am doing more for the family (not a bad thing) and not much of anything for me...help!

Tuesday After A Holiday

Tuesday's after a holiday suck.

I didn't want to get up because I couldn't mainly - I am sore...I got put through a workout that was great, but I knew I would pay for it.

Humidity was 92% this morning, but I did walk two miles still.

The sky was kind of Halloween scary this morning also.

Plus Petra scared me by freaking out at a blowing leaf. Yes - a blowing leaf.

On my way to work the sky had turned from scary Halloween sky, to eerie Tornado sky...

You know what I am talking about...the strange orange sky...

When I got into work there was no parking and we had to go sit in the storm shelters.

Yeah - i felt like an awesome mom leaving my kids at daycare.

BUT I can say that my one load of laundry a day, sweeping floors each night, went fabulous these last couple days....I failed on the daycare packing last night - but we will do it tonight :)

I did not start my goals until today for Set It Right September, as I didn't want to fail on a holiday weekend and get frustrated. I am ready for no nail biting, no soda, and running a ton.

I did however, have friends over, clean out some more clutter, sell some stuff on ebay, get a workout like no other (which I loved), and got to spend time with my family.

Can't be beat if you ask me!

Football Starts!!

I love me some AJ Hawk #50 for the Green Bay Packers, Santonio Holmes #10 for the Jets, and THE Ohio State University.

I am excited to say the least!

Last month's Challenge of Give It Away August was great - couldn't be happier as to how it helped me clear myself or both things and mind clutter!

This month we are having Set It Right September.

Set It Right? Yup!

Is there something that you have hated and want to fix? Maybe a couple things. Nothing awful - but you want to end whatever it is and make it work.

I have three things that I am needing to do and wanting to do and I need to just change some things and Set It Right so that I can accomplish what I need to. No more excuses!

Goal #1:

Stop Biting My Nails

I have done this since I can remember and I hate it. I sometimes don't realize what I am doing until I am doing it! It has to stop. Will Power is what this will take! Maybe even some ugly nail polish to make me want my nails to look prettier...I will conquer this!

Goal #2:

Run 100 Miles This Month.

I need to kick my training into high gear for the half marathon I want to compete in, in November.

I want to do this for me. It is a selfish reason. I don't want to just give up and say it is too hard - I will finish and I will be proud of myself. My girls will also see that if you set your mind to it you can do it. I will Set It Right for them.

Goal #3:

No Soda

I need to get back to my goal of no soda intake. I have slacked and drank some this last couple weeks (okay, more than some) and I have started to feel like crap. I need to intake water - maybe allow one or two for the month - but mostly water.

On a side note my husband's unit is doing a 60 day contest that starts the Tuesday after Labor Day on who can lose the most body fat. I am going to join him on this challenge as it is easier to do some things in numbers. I am so excited to get more fruits and veggies in the house. He is not excited, but I really am. This will help me in some personal goals that I have.

Rule of 3

My husband and I used to come up with three rules for each other to do each month. It was something fun that also helped us get habits started and get things done! It made it kind of a game. This is how I got to the point that I make the bed everyday!

I am going to start this again with myself - and you if you would like! You can keep tabs of my rule of three on the tab "Rule of 3" that is located just under the blog title.

It takes 21 days to form a habit - do it for a month and you will always do it!

Even if your goal is to only do something on the weekends - this is a great start!

My Rule of 3 for September:

#1 - Sweep the floors every night before bed and clean ever Saturday morning

#2 - Get everything ready for daycare the night before

#3 - One load of laundry everyday

(this will keep down on my all day Saturday laundry days!)

Day 30

A Close Up:

There is a lady I work with who has a John Deere room and loves all things John Deere. I had previously given her a John Deere Snowman as I never once took it out of the box. SHE LOVED IT. I was just glad someone could use it and actually liked it. Well, I no longer work at John Deere so some of the things don't matter as much anymore, including this 5 year anniversary stock embossing. I gave it to my friend Linda and I was happy to see her love it more than my closet did :)

Day 31

A bittersweet day.

I thought it was going to be an awful hard thing to keep up for a month - but it actually wasn't too bad - I think mainly because I liked the challenge of it!

Today I gave a candy bar to a little boy.

At the gas station I was grabbing a bag of cashews to tide me over and I saw a little boy just staring at the row of candy. I asked him what his favorite was and he said Reese's - and since it was my favorite too, I couldn't let him go without. I paid for one, opened it, and told the little boy I couldn't finish the rest (I bought a king size so this left him with 3). He smiled and thanked me and I was just happy he got a smile for the day!

So - tomorrow is going to be exciting. It is a new month with A LOT of new challenges.

I am beginning a "rule game" that my husband and I started a long time ago, but has kind of fizzled since - but it is very helpful for starting new habits a little at a time! Also, Nick has a 60 day challenge starting next Tuesday at work that we are going to take part in at this house. SO FUN! Plus I have a lot of training to do over the next two months and September is going to help kick it off!!!

The end is near!

Day 26

My youngest had to be picked up from school due a fever that is running through all the kids.

I had so much that I could have done at the house - but instead I brought both my girls home and gave them as much love as I possibly could. I love them and want them to know that no matter what.

I passed up on my to-do list to be who I should every day! I know you may say this doesn't count...but I am counting it!

Day 27

My husband was with a friend wasting away the day. At this house a baby shower was going on inside for people I had never met. I went to pick up Nick and stepped inside to say hi - and saw that the baby had been given some rain forest themed items - and I had one I could add! I think her name was Becky and I know she is having a girl...and now they have a crib musical. light up thingy from me :)

Day 28

I have always wanted to be a mom that read to my kids as my parents always did to me. I just never got around to it as I do all my stuff for the next day the evening prior. Bedtime is more of a rush than it is anything. I decided that last night would be the beginning of my reading. I let Ryley pick her book and Abby even sat and listened - and she held onto my arm the whole time, so I knew I was doing something right by giving them my time.

When we were done Abby asked me if I could read her "God Book" to her after Ryley went to bed. I had tears in my eyes...how awesome is that? When Ryley went to bed we read the story of Adam and Eve out of the Children's Bible she received as a gift. I loved it.

Day 29

Okay - a lot of you know about my love of Starbucks Coffee. I have gift cards all the time, but since I never go there much anymore (the 30 minute drive to get there just sucks) I hate to see them lying around. This morning my girlfriend Hooters said she "needed" a Starbucks. I had a gift card in my car and passed it along...why let a good thing go to waste - and since she is one of my best-good-friends, I didn't mind at all....I hope she likes her coffee this morning!

A Week's Worth of Giveaways!

Day 22

I cam across a bunch of necklaces and bracelets that I don't wear. They are still in great condition, just not my style anymore. I took them into daycare to let the teachers have at them.

Day 23

My girlfriend Cara was the receiver of this dress (minus the monogramming as I stole this picture from the Internet) for her precious baby Chloe. Now Chloe won't be able to wear it for like 2 years, but she will have it!!

Day 24

We have temp employees that work for us here at Coty - they do a lot for us that we don't want to do or have time to do. They rock. I decided to let them know this and bought each of them a soda. They deserve it and I don't need it.

Day 25

I have been selling some crafty stuff and one of my girlfriends bought some. There is a stamp set she bought that only one stamp would not work with the blocks she purchased. I wanted to make sure she got what she needed so I am giving her another one that I have that will perfectly fit it. She deserves to be able to stamp with them all!

Today is still yet to be determined.....I did wake up to a nice surprise on the scale - down 12.5 pounds!!

My kids came home today so that was highlight for me!

More Kids clothes!

I packed up some more little girl clothes to give away to a friend who has a boy - but no girl! I can't wait to meet up with her to actually physically give them to her!

Day 20

I took my mother-in-law to Zumba Jam - it was awesome! I love me some Zumba and I think next month I am going to try and get certified. I would love to do this for fun and some extra money!

This day was coming down to the wire. I had not given away a single thing. We were on our way to Fayetteville to watch Nick race his car and the night was getting long. The kids were called to the announcers stand and they were throwing candy down for the kids.

I helped Abby of course get more than she needed, but then I also helped another little kid gather some as he was getting it stolen before he could reach it.

I may have not actually given it to him out of my own pocket, but I do feel that you need to help out kids who need it, whether you know them or not.

Day 21

Stamping stuff has thrown up all over my crafting room.

I have tried to ebay some stuff, but it just didn't sell. Thank goodness for free auctions!

I decided to just get it all boxed up and ready to go. I boxed up some stuff for a friend who crafts on a budget and never really buys anything for herself that she likes, she buys clearance regardless (she makes do with whatever). Nothing wrong with this - I just knew I had some things she would love but wouldn't buy,

Tomorrow I will list some more items on here ( I think ) that I will send to whoever wants them. I would just ask that you help with postage. In other words - you get it for the price of postage but it would technically be free if you lived here by me!

Day 22 is tomorrow and I can honestly say I am running out of things to just give away, This is good for me as I it means I did well on this challenge. I gave away more than I posted, but some things I felt as if they didn't really count. I don't know why, but that is how I felt. This has been fun for me and made the month interesting. I have a new found sense of being clutter free! :)

Days 15, 16, & 17 - still deciding on 18!

Day 15

This is another day I am very proud of. Nick and I planned to do so much for ourselves this week that we didn't leave time for each other (since the kids are at the beach with Grandma) . We both decided to give up one night and give each other some time.

Nick and I decided on having a date night at Carraba's as I was given a gift certificate from the church for putting on VBS - which was awesome if I do say so myself - Even though I can honestly say I am not a fan of bamboo anymore.

While waiting for my husband to get home I realized that it had been about a year and half since our last real date.

A year and a half people!

This is not what I think of as healthy. I love my husband and I wanted to really enjoy this time with him alone.

I left my phone at home. I talked to him. I held his hand. I enjoyed him.

We laughed and really enjoyed the evening.

I think I will start to try and plan something like this here and there - it was way too long since the last one and I don't want to wait that long for another!

I plan to give up another night sometime soon!

Day 16

No this is not my closet. But I do have plenty of t-shirts!

I went through and made two piles. My friend Petra said she could use some size small - which I think I only own 2 of, so that was one sad pile. The other was for all other sizes - mostly large. I have those set aside for my girls at daycare to pick through, Chelsea said she could use them, so her wish was granted!

Day 17

In cleaning out my craft closet I found some brand new stamps that had never been opened.

I was obviously not going to use them anytime soon either - as I didn't remember I had them - HOW SAD!?

I decided to package those up and they are on their way to an unsuspecting friend right now!

That is the fun stuff - when they don't know!

Day 18

I cannot decide....I want to do one of two things....but not sure which one...

Give someone flowers for no reason - by leaving them on their doorstep

Or bake some cookies for our neighbors

Days 12, 13, & 14!

Okay - sorry these last couple days are rolled into 2 posts...I wanted to try and post one thing a day, but it didn't happen that way!

Day 12

My kids have gotten plenty of time duplicate gifts. I always hide them away and use them when and where I can to save some money. Is this wrong? I don't know, but that is what I do!

I had a couple gifts to give away. Some went to one of my neighbors that I always pass in the parking lot at work - his daughter Faith will love them and he was all smiles!

Day 13

Weekends are always tough for me as I don't see a ton of people. I invited my friend Petra to Zumba with me and I am not sure she loved it - but I am not sure that I love the idea of CrossFit like her :)

So for my give it away day I went through my stamps and set aside some for my mother-in-law. She is an avid stamper and will love them! I am glad they will get the love they deserve finally!

Day 14

Ahhh...I am happy with this day.

I gave my time away today.

I helped Nick's mom run today for the longest she has ran. I helped her to change her breathing and teach her a couple tricks.

I spent the ENTIRE day with my baby girl Ryley and treated her to a new outfit (since she usually gets hand me downs for everything!)

Then I had a dear friend come over and we had a really lovely talk as friends should have - bouncing ideas off each other and taking advice.

I had a TON of stuff to do today - I mean A TON - but my time was better spent with people I love.

Starting tomorrow my kiddos are going to the beach. I have so much to do in that week and still relax! I am excited for some of the things I will be doing.

I think I have found some creativity to play with and a new idea I have spinning in my head. Which leads me to ask - Do you need motivated? If you have some things you need to accomplish - please email me with your goals and if there are some obstacles you need to overcome.

9, 10, & 11

Day 9

I had no earthly idea what to give and the day was whittling away. I had a friend find out she was having a little girl (Congrats Tammy!) and asked if she would want clothes for when she was older - she said yes! So double bonus I get to meet up with her to give them to her which means good times with old friends!

Day 10

I have some little girls shoes that are not being used anymore and some are still like new! What a waste!

There is a girl I work with who has a 1 year old little girl - how perfect! She is a single parent and can use them more than my closet can! Score!

Day 11 - Today!

I had posted that I had cardstock to get rid of - one of my friends stated she would like some but had no money to really buy it right now. I told her it was hers for free - Cardstrock be gone! (There is more than what is in the picture)

Time to get ready for some more days of giving away! This is so fun - how is it going for you??

Give It Away - Take 7 & 8

No I didn't forget - I just didn't blog on Sunday - it was a very awesome family day of doing nothing but eBaying stuff that needed to go and I had no one I knew immediately who could use the stuff. 35 items listed with a few more to go. Thanks goodness they give me 50 free auctions each month!!

Maternity Pants.

I was originally going to sell them - but then a dear old friend who I recently found on Facebook asked about them. I realized she needed them and I had them and therefore yesterday I gave away 3 pairs of maternity pants that are in great condition!!

Pink John Deere Infant Boots.

I loved these on my girls - now my good friend Cara has a baby girl and I think she should have them!

They are in great condition and need love! Today Cara and baby Chloe will be receiving these awesome boots!

So this was me in the month of May:

I was a horrible jogger and was going to give up.

I then changed my mind - this won't beat me!!

I have been running and walking basically every morning since.

I joined a running club, ran another 5K, and have also joined Zumba!!!!

This is now what I feel like:

As this morning when Petra and I ran our 3 miles (we are both now training for a Half-Marathon!!) her clock read 36 minutes and mine read 34 - so take the average of 35 and we are doing great!!!

Keep giving those things away and keep motivated to not let things beat you!!!

Give It Away Day 6 - More Clothes!

One giant garbage bag full of kids clothes that were out-grown, duplicates, stained, or what nots.

I took this to daycare. All the teachers were welcome to pick out clothes for their kids. If there were any left over (out of style or stained) they could be for the daycare.

This helps me out by getting them out of my house, and into the hands of people who need them and will use them for their intended purpose!

The sad part - there is still plenty of clothes to go through in my house!!!

Give It Away Day 5 - Great Start!

I took them to daycare and let one of my friends have them - told her what she wanted was hers - anything she didn't want - do whatever with. She was happy to take them off my hands

For Day 4 I have a box of books that are being taken to Books A Steal in Sanford.

They sell all donated books and their rent is actually paid for by other store owners in town. All the people that work are volunteers and charity receives the profit. How awesome. I will donate to that! How about you?

My friend Petra likes to make CD's - lucky her I found two spindles like this full of them! NEVER USED! Apparently I don't need them but had to have them.

They are now hers - and I will get a couple back with new music :)

Give It Away Day 2

I had mistakenly bought two bras that were the wrong size. I didn't get to return them as we ended up with sick kids, vacation, and a whole bunch of other things. I was not going to throw them out either.

I had a friend visit my house and we somehow got on the topic of bras. She was down to one that fit. She was just the size I had but couldn't wear.

2 new Victoria Secret Bras donated.

That was a hard one to part with for me just because I had bought them.

Thank goodness I will know what size I am not at the next semi-annual sale!

Kick the Habit August 1-31 - FreelyBe.Org

So in addition to my giving one thing a way a day project - I am joining the girls at FreelyBe.Org in kicking the habit. What habit? Any habit you want to get rid of!

Here Are Mine:

#1 - Stop drinking soda. I would buy a can or bottle of soda a day - this would be $0.80 for a can $1.25 $1.35 for a bottle - that is such a waste!

#2 - Frivolous Spending. Yes, I spend. I have found that I need to stop. I can find a reason to buy anything - and I am gong to find a reason to not buy anything!

Just Give It Away August

So for my first day of August I am giving away some things I have (some were sadly unused) that need a home that will use them for their intended purpose!

I had bought a whole bunch of Stamping Bella rubber stamps that everyone fondly calls "Bellas" - they are super cute and super fun, but I just don't use them anymore!

The thing about Bellas is that they come from Canada so the shipping sucks and some people don't usually buy them because of it.

I went onto the WISH-RAK forum on www.Splitcoaststampers.comand found some people who were wishing for the stamped images. Instead of just getting some stamped off images, they are going to enjoy the actual stamp! Kinda makes my heart happy to give people more than what they asked for!

August Challenge Has Been Decided!

So I have decided what my first monthly challenge will be:

Give Away One Thing A Day

Now this is not give someone your junk - this is give away something that someone needs that you have, you don't use it but it is still good for someone else, or it might be painful but you need to get rid of it.

A meal, a card, a shirt, a baking dish, an ear to someone who needs you at that moment and you normally wouldn't listen to them (not that you don't like them), give away your seat for someone who needs it, etc.

The stuff we collect in life sometimes had a meaning for a moment, or never really did, and we still have it. I plan to go through my things and make a pile of "Give Away" and "Throw Away" and I expect to be done with these piles at the end of the month or shortly after! I am not going to plan anything, and I am going to try and make it a "in this moment this person needs what I have " type of thing.

Simplicity Saturday - Finances

This past year has been a struggle for us financially.

Nick had a transmission that went out and had to be replaced TWICE.

A "friend" bounced a hefty check on me and also bounced out of town herself.

Pay is still short of what I left at John Deere.

Daycare is over half my current paycheck and there are still bills to pay.

I am not asking for sympathy as I know a lot of people are in my position. I am not going to let it defeat me either - I am going to win this battle!

I have found some new found ways to make money with auctions on Facebook (see post HERE for more details) - not much, but every little bit helps!

You got something that you don't want anymore? Someone out there does. Trust me on that one. I sold a bottle of Christmas Noel Vanilla lotion (smells just like the regular vanilla that sells for $10.50) for $10 including shipping that was $2 - really?? They saved $0.50 and I made $8 on a gift I didn't need or every use. Kids clothes that would sell at Once Upon A Child, or consignment shops wouldn't take - sold them in

"lots" as they were still in great condition. Trust me - get a shipping quote first so you don't lose on that - but there is someone who will want it - even if you have to relist it.

I love to read, but hate to actually pay for books. Paperbackswap.com is a website you list what books you have, someone wants it - you send it at your cost to the. In return you get a book you want sent to you at the sender's cost. This is totally worth it for me as our library sucks and sending a book via USPS (media mail is cheaper) is cheaper than driving to base.

I found my new favorite tool to use to help me know how far I am running!

It pulls up maps of your neighborhood, or parks, or streets or whatever so you can figure out what you are accomplishing during your morning route.

One thing I will advise - be careful where you click - I thought I was doing so good on my run to find out I clicked about three times to many giving myself an extra 3/4 of a mile. OOPPS! Yeah that kind of killed my motivation for a week or so. I am back though and my friend Petra and I are doing great!

As for food....I have found myself in a love hate relationship with food!

I find that I am always hungry but hate having to always eat.

Mornings are coffee, some oatmeal, lunch of a salad with sunflower seeds, and dinner is a meat of some sort with vegetables. I am really lacking in the morning and afternoon snack department. I know I need to drink more water and less soda too. I love my soda though.

What are your ideas?

Thankful Thursday

Abby requested pink, bright, happy, butterflies and lots of girly stuff.

I am so thankful that my kid is not afraid to be herself!.

Each morning when she gets dressed she cries over the outfit she wants to wear. I always try to pick out something first and give her the option that matches.

Her option usually involves horizontal stripes in rainbow colors with plaid carpi's in contrasting colors.

She doesn't care if things look odd to us - they look good to her.

I pick my battles and the clothes are not one of them.

My husband at times gets irritated - but as I tell him - she is expressing herself (which is as loud as her color choices), and I don't want to kill that.

I am thankful she is as loud as the box for her hair "pretties" she asked me to make.

So I have talked about this new group of mommies I have found on Facebook.

They are all trying to market their items to the masses!

We share each other's businesses and get each other fans - and business!

I have found that auctions also get us some fans and some extra money!

People hold auctions once they reach so many fans - and want people to participate in their auctions! You priovide pictures of items, starting bids, bid increments, and shipping.

Once the auction is done you contact the winner and there you have it!

People get introduced to your business and your items!

Nothing like making a little extra cash here and there!

Homemade Guacamole

One of my most favorite things is guacamole!

I love to eat it plain!

Here is my amazing recipe from The Gooseberry Patch Appetizer Recipes Mini Cookbook

3 Avocados (peeled, pitted, and mashed)

1/2 cup tomatoes, chopped (I do not suggest canned, diced ones)

1/4 cup onion, chopped

2 tsp minced garlic

1 Tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. pepper

1 tsp. cayenne pepper

1 tsp. chili powder ( I don't use this every time)

1/2 tsp hot pepper salt

Combine all ingredients in order listed.

Serve with tortilla chips

Simplicity Saturday

I have been learning to simplify my life to help combat my anxiety.

There has been lots of research on minimalists and such to do this. My life is busy and it isn't going to slow down or change anytime soon. I am okay with busy, as long as I can cope normally (definition of normal changes EVERY DAY).

I have found that breaking things up works best for me. Maybe I have ADD and I just have an issue with sitting through an entire project from start to end. I have to start and stop and then pick it back up again. I know this annoys my husband, but I have just found ways to do it without him really noticing.

Fitness Friday

It is crazy to think I couldn't run but one eigth of a mile a little over a month ago. I was dying from that. It all started when I decided I think I am going to do a 5K this weekend.

Read all about it HERE - you will laugh.

Jogged/Walked a 5K in just over 44 minuts. Nick jogged it in lik 21 minutes - that is a 7 minute mile people - he did the Army 10 miler with 7 minute miles. He is awesome. I, ont he other hand, am not.

I have been steadily walking and increasing my jogging every morning on my 5:00 am routing with my friend Petra. Yesterday we jogged a full mile. A FULL MILE! I was so proud - only took us a month, but I was sooo happy!

After July 4th we are going to add another mile to our two mile routine. We roughly have 30 minutes give or take to do this so it is a fun challenge as well.

Here are a few places I go to learn about the food side of keeping me going through my fitness fun - and it is getting kind of fun despite what I originally thought!

I am so very thankful.

I have been networking with some great mommies who have a passion to find their niche in this start your own source of income world.

I have been encouraged and empowered to find my niche.

My friend Jessye became certified to teach group fitness and now has her very own boot camp.

I have plenty of mom friends who are crafty and selling their kids clothes, bows, decorations, and everything (and I love their stores!)

I am so thankful I have now found the energy to keep up and actually running my first full mile this morning with my friend Petra. Walking 3 miles in the afternoon with my friend Jen and using my very own (garage sale purchased) double jogging stroller for the kids.

I can't wait to keep things rolling and new things starting!

Crafts are on the plate for this weekend as I have some swaps to get out the door - stay tuned!

I have entered a couple auctions on Facebook. I have been doing packs of cards and notebooks like the one below. I love notebooks as I am an avid list maker and I write all things down.

Nick and I went on an Army Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat at Myrtle Beach with the kids. It was great - or at least I thought! My language is Words of Affirmation. Nick's is a tie between Quality Time and Acts of Service. I have been doing my homework and am working on "speaking" his language - lets see how he does too.... :) I highly recommend this to newly weds - I think it would be a great tool to have from the beginning.

I also had my first visit with a doctor about my anxiety issues that have come about in the last 6 months or so. She gave me some homework and tasks to complete (or not in some cases) and I am excited to work on this and get it fixed!!

Fireproof & The Love Dare

When I was pregnant with Ryley and Nick was away at EFMB the first time I went to the movies with some friends from church to see the movie Fireproof. Kirk Cameron rocked when I was a kid in Growing Pains so I was a little shocked at how cheesy some of the action was in this movie. I can say though the meaning of this movie has forever stuck with me. Nick - who is not a fan of religious events (church basically) even like it and has watched it countless times with me. He even got me the book "The Love Dare" that is the 40 day challenge that goes with the movie. I have gone back to this "dare" a few times in the last couple years to refresh my love and appreciate for my husband and the Lord - which is the ultimate goal of this book/movie. I encourage you try the dare and watch the movie!

Giving

I am enjoying the spirit of giving and I have always loved to make cards - so why not combine?

For my Abby's 4th Birthday this past weekend we collected items for the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill, NC instead of receiving gifts. I also collected cards to donate for the families so they can stay where they are needed and not have to worry about sending cards.

We collected 2 huge plastic tubs of stuff for the house, and over 500 greeting cards! I have decided to adopt this house and continue to take them cards about once a month or so. How can you not love to help out when it involves something you love already??

Another thing I do with my cards is donate them to fundraisers or auctions! I have a high school friend in Ohio who is helping to raise money for the Red Cross to help out in many different ways. I made her a few simple card packs that were simple and very versatile so anyone could use them!

First and Foremost:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ABBY!

My little girl turns 4!!!

This leads me to my post today:

I want to be here for her and her sister as long as I can.

I recently jogged (people walked it faster than I jogged it) my first 5K. I think I died a little - my legs took 4 days to heal. Note to self - you might want to try to train some before just trying to do it because it is free!

I realized that I am out of shape and eat like crap. I love food and hobbies that I sit down for, what can I say? I decided that even though I am not a fan of torture like running - the fact that it was so hard for me hurts. I used to be a competitive gymnast who could do anything it seemed. I know it will not happen like that again - but I would really like to be able to play with my kids without huffing and puffing the whole time.

My goal is to walk our town greenway at least 4 times a week and jog it 1 time a week. It is a paved 5K :)

I love food - all kinds of it and especially the fair food that is awful for you.

I hate water - HATE IT. Forced to drink it for those 8 years of gymnastics ruined me. But soda is going to kill me faster. No soda - or at least not one a day :) (or two if we are being honest). I bought myself a cute little cup for work and plan to drink water out of it because our water cooler is free to me and who doesn't want to drink out of a cute cup!!?? I am also going to start bringing my lunch to work because that keeps me from buying the crap they serve to us. If you can't tell what it is - how do you know it is healthy?? I have been buying more produce and less frozen, cooking more and heating up less, and even if I am not a fan of it - I will still eat it. I also can tell you I have been eating breakfast every morning - a cup of coffee and oatmeal - what a difference that makes! I am not hungry till lunch (most days) and can tell you I have lost weight just from cutting the soda and eating oatmeal - go me!

My plan is to continue this trend. I want to be a better version of me both inside and out. I just value some things more than I did and I am glad I got that point loud and clear about a month or so ago. I will never be the skinny girl after two kids - but I can be the healthy girl who has meat on her bones!

Craftiness happened last night as Nick was on staff duty - so you will see that post soon!!

So it isn't a huge secret that Nick and I have had our fair share of issues in our marriage. I think part of it is dealing with the stress of the army and the fact that we really are opposites. I love him with all my heart though he frustrates me so. I have a very wise friend who has been married for 16 almost 17 years to a man who has done the same to her.

She recommended a book to me about being a Godly woman who serves her husband as the Lord says you should - if you choose to get married. Some people can read this book and say she is asking you to be a servant to your husband who has no say but just does what she is told. No, not necessarily. She does not want you to be abused or taken advantage of, but she does want you to realize that he is the head of the household and should be respected as such. I can honestly say I always joke that I am head of this house because Nick is always gone with this work schedule. Really he is and I do most of the everyday chores around this house. Yes it gets tiring, and yes I get bitter. In reading this book I realized that the way in which I reacted to him and his actions has helped to cause some of the issues that we have had. I realized that I did not act as we are all told to act in the many chapters of the Bible and I was most certainly not even acting fair.

I love how in this book she has letters from people in each chapter to help show what she has been asked and how she responds, and let me tell you - she is blunt, but loving. I honestly like for someone to hurt my feelings, but at least I know what is expected - I know God's word is written, but having someone put it in everyday terms is like a "Wow!" moment for me. In being a novice Christian in my walk, I find myself re-learning things all the time. What I thought and what it is are two very different things sometimes!

Each chapter also ends with some take aways. Those were helpful, along with the scripture that is throughout the book. I can tell you that they are ones I have read a hundred times, but never really thought of them in the way they pertain to my marriage.

I always wanted God to just change Nick, but I also now realize that I cannot stand between Him and Nick. I am not going to try and be his way into heaven, but I can show him with my actions and love what God has done for me.

I made some cards! These are very simple and that is how I like things these days!

I have simplified the things in my life and the stuff in my life and it has made me feel more free.

I have read about a challenge to live with only 100 things - Don't know if I can be that free just yet!

I had not had time to create until yesterday evening so last week I got out my BRAK's for Splitcoaststampers and instead of cards they all got stamps instead!

A Time For Prayer

You could say my faith has been jump started with some things I have gone through over the last two months - both in my community and in my personal life.

Prayer has become my new found sanity. I can pray for those who need it and someone who is greater than I can hear my prayer and do what is right in His will. My God is mighty to save.

A friend and I have also started to write cards of encouragement to missionaries here and abroad. We are just two people writing over 50 people every couple of months - but it is an amazing blessing ot be part of.

Armed Forces Day

According to a New York Times article published on May 17, 1952: "This is the day on which we have the welcome opportunity to pay special tribute to the men and women of the Armed Forces ... to all the individuals who are in the service of their country all over the world. Armed Forces Day won't be a matter of parades and receptions for a good many of them. They will all be in line of duty and some of them may give their lives in that duty."

It is amazing how you can go through so many things and you find out where people really stand.

Involved in helping with all the clean-up, food kitchens, donation centers, and prayer time, I found my personal life falling apart. I stepped down from design teams to help get my priorities in check.

I found that I my family was missing me becuase even through I was helping others (along with the kids), we were not really working together as a family. I have a strong faith and so of course I turned to prayer and really asked God to help direct me where I needed to be.

I still love crafting and I LOVE all the friends I have made - but I found I was missing out on some things by spending a good half my life in it. I found that I love to volunteer where I can and I find it important to keep family involved in volunteering as well so we don't get big heads about ourselves.

You will see this blog evolve as I will still be crafting - just on a much smaller level.

I will be using it to help organizations with the things I create and to give visibility to these organizations as well.

I will also be showing you some of the other things in my life that have changed and the other things that I create from it. This blog will be mine again.

Thanks for hanging in and I can't wait to show you some crafty things I will be making for a couple different benefits coming up for different causes.

So...these last couple of weeks have just been a reality check.

Our town was basically blown apart by a tornado.

I have seen so many people giving and helping in a way I cannot even explain.

I realized things can be taken away in a heartbeat and what really matters is family and friends.

I have decided that family is what I love.

I enjoy crafting and I enjoy reading books.

But I love my family.

I am going to take more time to love them and really, really enjoy them.

We had a free weekend and we took it to go to the races and then a family day at the park in downtown.

Friends - they can come and go, but I know that I am blessed to have more than some.

I am not going to gossip or talk behind people's back.

I want to have real fun with them and not worry that I might tell on myself for something I should have never said.

I am going to be a better person to my family and friends.

I deserve to have a life of memories if it all gets taken away tomorrow.

Devastation In My Community

I have been MIA this week as on Saturday my community of Sanford, NC was hit by a deadly tornado. Over 20,000 people were affected. Our Lowes Hardware, Tractor Supply Company, Big Lots, and many, many, many other homes and businesses were hit. 6 families where I work were directly affected and 1 person from our daycare. Thank goodness out community is as wonderful as I thought it was. We have donations and helping hands pouring in. If you would like to help please send WalMart gift cards or basic toiletries to me please leave a comment with your email and I will send it to you. There is one of many drop off centers less than 2 minutes from my house. The very first day I found out about the need I packed up half my kids clothes and sent them to those who needed them. Me and Nick are going through everything else we own to see what we can give. I believe you can give to the Red Cross in our area as well if you want to go that route. They need our help. There's Magic In The Air at Paper Cupcakes!

This week's challenge is fabric and stitches...oooooooooo!!!

I love these fabric flowers I found at Michael's on clearance! I am on a no buy scrap budget. But the clearance price of $1 for 6 - couldn't pass up - and I bet you wouldn't either!

The stitching I kind of think I could have done better - but I am still looking for my stamp that actually is a stitch pattern - so it can be perfect every time!

I used the image "Designer Cupcake" for this challenge - I LOVE IT! Don't you?

I used scrap DSP, Georgia Pacific white cardstock, Reflections Fabric Flowers, and BIC Markers to color.

Aspire To Thrive Children's Charities (was Incy Wincy Children's Charities - hence the challenge blog name) was started by a group of dart friends here in Elizabeth and Salisbury ,South Australia - who wanted to give something back to the community. A group of them have continued to do through out the last 2 years and they have been shown the amount of difficulty our society has towards children with special needs. There are a lot of charities out there who help children with terminal illnesses so we thought they could aim more towards learning and behavioural difficulties.

Our shop at www.aspiretothrive.com.au are donated drawings and ALL money (minus paypal costs) go directly into the charity.

Now I have always told my husband that his hari gel could be used as glue and I proved it:

So I joined a Valentines Day Exchange where you get a name, someone gets yours and between a group of you fill and send a bow worth $25 - sounds great right? Especially when it is hosted by someone whom you have come to know through the blogging world and other things!

Well you send yours off and your never comes. Bummer - but you hold nothing against the person who hosted because they can't make someone do something - right? That is my stance.

Instead - my friend not only gave me AND my kiddos something - the word got out and I received two additional packages from people who were in the swap.

I was shocked. BUT WAIT till you see these packages - I couldn't even speak!

I never expected Michelle to make up for someone.

She is just this nice.

Creative Clear Stamps Time!!!

"Cake on Fire" Is one of those single stamp sets you can do so much with. Male or female it can work! I used this card set about two weeks ago with pink and made it a gift bag tag. So fun!

I like that with sinlge stamps you can do basically whatever without an image to work around - but I still love my images ladies!!
Today it is simple and manly. I keep the colors dark, the layout simple and that is my idea of a manly card!

Hello all! I decided to take one of my favorite little dragons Rupert and a theme that is not around this time of year - Thanksgiving!!!

I love Thanksgiving and I love Rupert - so that works for me!

Rupert as you know if from Stamping Dragon Designs and has other family as well!

Here is my Thanksgiving Rupert:

I colored him with BIC Markers, used Tim Holtz Brads, Scraps, and Georgia Pacific Cardstock for a base.
